Declined to accept “Sahityakaar Samman” announced by Delhi Hindi Akademi since the Akademi decided to withdraw the “Shalaka Samman” awarded to noted writer Shri Krishna Baldeo Vaid due to extraneous considerations. I wrote to the Akademi emphasising the need to mantain the autonomy and integrity of literary institutions.

The very next day, senior poet Shri Kedar Nath Singh, theatre personality Rekha Jain, poet Pankaj Singh and writer Priyadarshan also declined to accept Akademi awards.

My book Akath Kahani Prem Ki: Kabir Ki Kavita Aur Unka Samay was launched today by Shri Shyam Benegal at a function organized at  the National Museum, New Delhi.

Prof. Wagish Shukla and Smt Shabhnam Virmani addressed the audience. Prahlad Singh Tipania and co. rendered Kabir bhajans and Prof. Namwar Singh presided over the function.

The book has been awarded the first Rajkamal Prakashan Kriti Samman
